Picnic Table and Autumn Reflection at Cascade Lake

Cascade Lake sits cradled between two steep, forested slopes along Route 73 in Keene, New York. On this autumn morning, the water lay so still it became a mirror—the hillsides' blazing reds and golds reflected without a ripple. A simple wooden picnic table anchored the foreground, its dark wood a quiet invitation to pause. Fallen leaves scattered across the ground in rust and amber tones, while a solitary boulder broke the water's surface midway across the lake. The mountains rose sharply on both sides, their slopes dense with trees at peak color. The sky held soft, diffused light—neither fully overcast nor clear, but that particular autumn gray that lets the foliage glow from within.
